  1. The above answer is false think does salt dissolve in water.  The obvious answer is yes.  Remember like dissolves like substances.  Because water is polar and NaCl is soluble in water as a solvent NaCl is also polar.  Contradiction in the above answer only polar substances are dipoles (one slightly positively charged end and one slightly negatively charged end hence di-pole (two poles)
