  1. No.

  2. These are 2 very different types of flatbread eaten in different parts of the world but both are delicious!!

ROTI PRATA is the Singaporean evolution of the Indian paratha, a pancake made of dough composed of fat, egg, flour and water. Roti means bread in Hindi, Urdu, most other North Indian languages and Malay, while Prata means flat. It is traditionally served with curry or, more rarely, with sugar or condensed milk. In addition, although consumed at any time of the day by some locals, the vast majority tend to consume it as a late night or early morning dish, particularly at 24-hour outlets.

Naans are usually not made at home as the process is too cumbersome while Roti and Parathas are a staple in most North Indian homes.

  7. Roti Prata is a speciality from Singapore but also eaten in both Malaysia and Indonesia.  It is very different from the Indian version of parata.  It is eaten anytime of the day here in SG, we love our roti prata!!!  Roti Prata is crispy, flaky and a little bit chewier than its Indian counterpart.  It is pan fried.  It is the best tasting too.

  8. Although both are Indian rotis, naan is more of the North Indian staple diet while Prata (or Parotta as they're called in Tamilnadu) is of the south India.

  9. Naan, Roti, and Pratha are the flat breads used in India.

Roti is made with a dough of wheat flour water and bit of salt. The rolled out cookie is roasted over hot iron griddle.

Pratha, is made with dough made with wheat flour , Ghee (Clarified butter), water and bit of salt. The rolled out cookie may be foldeded over. It is fried over hot iron griddle.

Naan is a leavened bread. The dough is made with a mixture of whole grain flour and refined flour. Yogurt and egg are use for leavening. The bread is formed in a triangular shape. The Naan is baked in a Tandoor (an Indian drum shaped oven made of clay and straw).
