unfortunately not !! He is about 100 points behind roger but i think he can end the year as #1 he has a great chance too :)!

If Federer wins, Nadal has to make it at least to the semifinals at the U.S. Open.

If Federer loses in the final and Nadal loses before the quarters, Federer keeps his #1.

As far as the Master Series titles, Federer can boost his points by winning back Rogers Cup, he needs to defend in Cincinnati, win in Madrid and that should keep him #1.

If Nadal can somehow make a good run at Cincinnati he'd make it a lot easier for himself, he got to the 2nd round last year, a semifinal appearance would be a big boost.

I think it will be still around 500 points as Rafa gains 300 n Roger loses 300. The current gap is 1100.

But Rafa has very few points to defend while Roger has too much points to defend. So even if Roger wins US Open and the year end Masters title, Rafa can be # 1 by reaching a SF or so and some decent results in the Masters
