Question:

Is Nascar losing it appeal?

I used to love the sport. I just can no longer sit through a race due to caution after caution for pathetic things. They call it safety, but it is getting to be too much.

The announcers and stupid into to the start is annoying. The commercial break every 4-5 laps is pathetic. It is just going down hill fast.

Restricter plate racing? Might as well line them all up with 5 laps and race. Probably one of the worst run sports now a days.

One of the only racing sports that cannot race on a street course with corner cautions. Have to go full course when someone goes off the track.

  1. It's probably losing it's appeal to fair weather fans.  It was "trendy" for a while, but those fans have moved along to the next fad.  (Thank goodness.)

I agree that NASCAR isn't what it once was.  The COT has taken so many variables out of the team's hands.  But it is what it is.  I've watched NASCAR for a long time, and old habits die hard.

EDIT:  "It is all about money for them now, it is just a shame."  Please tell me which racing series is NOT doing it for the money; I would love to watch them.  : )

  2. i think ur stupid

  3. nope, it's gaining in appeal. quit whining, it's very unbecoming. no one's forcing you to keep watching.

  4. No - it is more popular than ever and the ratings are higher than ever.

  5. Sux to be you. I tape every race, watch every lap and sometimes go back and review it again.

  6. I know same here and stupid kyle busch wins every race it's not that appealing anymore plus when foxes shift is done it's TNT oh boy

  7. yes it is

  8. No, I think it's actually better to watch now than it was 5 years ago. I agree with the frequent commercial breaks, but isn't that common with all sports?

As for the announcers, I love DW!! BOOGITY BOOGITY BOOGITY!!

  9. Yes! cuz Matty's not wining lol jk............NO!

  10. Heck no!!  I am more into it than ever!!

  11. I think it is gaining appeal even though many don't understand what nascar is Like you

  12. It is becoming a made for TV event. I think that FOX is trying to make maximum profit and not really put anyhting into it. Nascar needs to get away from the big cookie cutter tracks and go back to its roots. California and Michigan could put people to sleep.

  13. I have to say it sometimes depends on the track anymore. For instance, I wouldn't even go to the Calfornia track for free, the most boring track on the circuit (xcept for KS)

which is a bummer cuz my dad helped build that track.

But they have the lamest racing ever there.

  14. The ratings are actually up this year.  You may not like it nowdays but NASCAR is gaining more new fans than they are losing old ones, in my opinion.  BTW, they only do 2 road courses a year, what's with the full course caution stuff today?  Seems like somebody must have woke up the F1 fans or something.

edit:  Ah, the hidden agenda comes out.  What's with all the hating on Jr today?  He had another decent race and didn't cause any controversy that I am aware of.  3rd in the standings is looking pretty good if you ask me.  It's odd that you have been such a big fan of NASCAR and other motorsports but have never asked or answered a question about them until today.

    3 STR8 N 08!!!

  15. It's a captivating season with Kyle Busch stealing the thunder from Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon. And he's not even in a Hendrick car!

  16. I would say check the website "jumpedtheshark.com" and find out when people were over it and on to something else.

But the short answer on NASCAR is yes.

  17. yes

cautions are for just debris and i know a lot of people who like to see big wrecks and this year not many have happened

i still love it and actually more into it than ever

  18. It's down the crapper. I'm a fifty year fan, quit flying to Sonoma, Daytona, Texas, Las Vegas, quit buying season tickets at MIS. France ruined it. The COT (Checker Cab with a wing) is a joke. The "lucky dog" as well as the top 35 in points qualify did me in.

  19. I think you'll find that many of us older fans who have been around awhile agree with you.

You can also add, all the rules. Can't bump somebody too hard or ya get penalized, crews can't adjust cars, drivers can't say anything about nascar or their officials without troubles, basically they want all the cars, and drivers the same. Ya might as well have robots out there.

  20. For the masses, no, I'm not sure it has.  For me, it has a little.  I feel in love with the sport 5 years ago but I have found myself more in love with F1 and other series because I enjoy the way they are run compared to Nascar.  I do still love Nascar but some of the things they do infuriate me.  Silly rules like G-W-Ch,  the Chase, no racing to cautions, 10 minute cautions for spring rubbers on track, lucky dog rule, constant commercialism and sponsor plugs, people crashing people to win races and getting away with it,etc, etc.  The sport is such a 'sell out' in how its run.  That turns me off to it somewhat.  And you're totally right about restictor plate races- lame!!

  21. yes it is!!
