I'm going in November and I wanna know some cool things to do in Nassau. My mom has us doing glass bottom boat and snorkeling. Is there anything else to do than those? Oh, and is camp carnival cool at all?

  1. it is NOT THE GREATEST city in the bahamas.it is actually one of the worse.

trust me i have lived in the bahamas for over 9 years and i truely hate nassua...it is so ghetto..dirty..crowd...and er

  2. It sounds like you will be stopping here on a cruise - in which case, it sounds like you're looking for "cool" things to do during the day. Here are some ideas:

    1. Visit the Atlantis on Paradise Island, just a few minutes away from Nassau. They have a water adventure park, some slides, an aquarium and tons of pools. They also have a teen club there.

    2. You can visit any one of the resorts on cable beach and rent jet skis or go parasailing.

    3. You can rent a boat and go island hopping

    4. Go into town for some shopping and typical Bahamian eating (conch fritters, cracked conch, etc.)

Camp Carnival will be as cool as the other folks that join the program - they have some great activities and parties (all parents free) and some ships have private teen clubs as well as arcade areas.

  3. I don't know of any town in the Caribbean I have less use for than Nassau.  It's too over commercialized and EVERYTHING is WAY too expensive... even a 6 pack of the local beer is about $10

Not only that, but the Bahamian Government, in it's wisdom, has just about priced itself out of the market for cruising sailboats, so I give the Bahamas a WIDE distance if I have to sail past there... I don't know what they think the Bahamas have that is so special... but THEY ARE WRONG...

The only people who think Nassau is great are those AmeriKans who have never been outside their own country or, especially, never been to the really BEAUTIFUL islands in the Caribbean.

  4. I was on the Fantasy cruise trip to Nassau Bahamas in 2004. There wasn't really much to do there. I didn't do any snorkiling due to rough water conditions. All I did was went into town and do some shopping. I noticed every store/restaurant even Mc Donalds has a security guard at the front door and every second building is a liquor store. If you go into town on King Street, its dirty.  I've done a lot of traveling and Nassau is at the bottom of my list. It was boring.

  5. I Am 14 & i went to Nassau in june & i loved it, i went on the carnival cruise & had plenty of time to do what i wanted. I'm not a big fan of snorkeling or any kind of water sports. However me & my family went on a little tour with a couple of other people & we loved it. Getting to see the 'ghetto' parts of a strange town/city is better than just seeing what everyone wants & thinks of the Caribbean which is 'paradise' the people are very nice & the shops are very cheap. The beach is great, bright clear blue sea & golden sand. The atlantis hotel is another great place to go to.

I don't understand why so many people are complaining over such a great place if you want paradise then maybe you should enter your dreams. No where is completely paradise.

I live in england & that is a lot worse, so much more expensive & boring.

  6. You will have a wonderful time on that snorkel excursion tour. The water in the Bahamas is a beautiful blue/green and the marine life is good.

I always like to check out the straw market and do some bargaining with the locals. Always start low with prices and increase slowly, they expect it. If they don't budge, walk away, they always call you back.

Get some of your hair braided.

Checking out the Atlantis resort is always fun to do too.

If you are on a cruise, they don't give you much time to do more than one or two things.

    Enjoy)
