Question:

Is Nastia Liuken's father a bad sport?

Seriously, blaming an Australian judge and making a personal attack on her for the formula that is used to decide a tie-break? That is totally ridiculous!

This man looks like your typical pushy parent and did so from the start. I have to feel sorry for his daughter who has done well in her sport and I have to wonder if shes even enjoying what she is doing given his spoilt brat attitude! She should be able to live her dreams her own way. This father clearly thinks its all about him and is obviously having a bratty tantrum that his little girl didnt bring home the gold medal. I would be grateful to accept any Olympic medal, to even compete in the games! I am sure that Nastia is feeling the same.

What sort of father detracts from his daughters performance this way? She should be celebrating her success not feeling cheated or ashamed for not coming first!

  1. I agree, her father is being a bad sport. I wouldn't judge on a routine just by the way she lands. I think some (not all) Americans believe that just because Natasia Liuken had a neater landing than He Kexin is the reason she deserves gold. And her father's just putting all the blame on the Australian judge claiming that she was biased towards China which is ridiculous..

  2. h**l Yes! Especially when HE KNOWS better than anyone reading it that her score is NOT included in He Kexin's Final Score - and that Three other judges gave Nastia the exact same score as her.

    Talk about Petty!

  3. Depends...though I do feel really irritated he would do something, imagine you were her father...wouldn't you be annoyed if your daughter has exactly the same score as the gold medalist but still got silver? You were just THIS CLOSE to getting the gold! GRR! She does look like a spoilt one though.

  4. hmm..well one thing can be that she most of time brings gold so her father must be expecting gold this time too..

well i don't know much about her father..so no comments on that!!

  5. I don't know if you could see it, but Nastia Liukin's forehead was shining a bright beam of light at the foreign gymnasts to distract them and make them fall off. She used alien technology to help the USA win. That's just not the true spirit of the games, I feel.

Did you hear her mouthing "Where is John Connor" after her program? Scary.

  6. no, i don't think he is being a bad sport, the tie breaker was a joke, you can't give two people with the same score, one gold and one silver.

  7. Next Olympics they should just give USA all the gymnastic medals it would save a lot of whinging and no matter what they aren't happy.

  8. This is what happens when some people watch gymnastics once every 4 years at the Olympics and then think they have a clue.   This particular Australian judge has blatantly underscored Liukin both in the All Around competition at these Olympics (she gave an 8.4 while the other judges gave 8.9-9.1) and in the Qualification Round of last year's Worlds (she gave an 8.8 while the rest of the judges were in the 9's).  An additional Australian judge gave Liukin a much lower bar score than the rest of the judges in the Event Finals of last year's Worlds.  Of course, if you aren't a big fan of gymnastics, you would not be able to see the pattern of odd scoring throughout the years.

This time, the same Australian judge scored Liukin 0.3 lower than the Chinese gymnast who ended up winning.   No other judge put the Chinese girl ahead by more than 0.1 and multiple judges had Liukin ahead.

Believe me, this has been a pattern of suspicious scoring from the Australian judge(s) on bars for a couple years now.    Valeri Liukin is a good guy.  He would not bring this up unless it was a legit complaint, and it is a legit complaint for the reasons I mentioned.    He, as well as his daughter, deserve an explanation about the consistent underscoring from Australia's judge.

  9. Extremely bad loser.

And death threats. Is that what the USA is all about? If we don't win we're going to kill you. If soccer hooligans did that they would be barred from going to their team's games.

Why not blame all the other judges who gave the chinese girl a higher score? Why not blame the other judges for not score Liuken higher?

Star0815 - you should make up your mind. Does the Australia judge only watch gymnastic every 4 years at the olympics. Or did they do all that judging at the world championships last year? Clearly you have no idea what your talking about. The only bias is in the fevered imagination of supporters of the person who came second. Disgusting!

  10. you are a baw bag her father is her coach who has got her to this level would you be saying this if he was only her coach and not her father he is only expressing his opinion .Your opinion is way off the mark who do you sleep at night, you obviously don't take part in a sport and know what it is like GET A GRIP.

  11. I totally agree. It is a terrible attitude he has and he should be banned. In most sports managers, coaches, players, competitors are not allowed to be involved in bag referees, umpires or judges. His daughter on the day was not good enough and it should be left at that.

In an earlier swimming event, an Australian and another swimmer had the same time but the gold was given to the other swimmer on photo evidence. No complaints, accepted the judges decision.

  12. IDK about all that, seems kind of petty of you to me, but whatever.

The tie break is a joke, dual gold medals is the only fair way of dealing with that situation.

Thank god most people don't think like you.

  13. YEAHH i hate him...nastia is a bad sport too. they both need a reality check. i dont think that family can be happy unless they get gold..its pretty sad.
