Will the levees hold? Will the city's new emergency plans work this time? Will everybody leave when they are told? Will the school and city buses be put to use to get everybody out if they don't have transportation?

  1. yes, just as ready as oklahoma trailer parks are ready for a tornado.

  2. Yes.

Louisiana has a competent Governor now and the failures of "Crazy Ray" Nagin will be limited by the state.

Even the most dramatic forecasts show Gustav making landfall as category 3 storm that will be much, much weaker than Katrina.

All of the levees that were damaged by Katrina have been repaired, and the levee system is getting a $14 Billion upgrade (not finished yet). Gustav is very unlikely to threaten the integrity of the levee system.

Our greatest concern right now is because the drainage system was very badly damaged by Katrina and have not been completely repaired. There is a probability of rainwater flooding if Gustav does strike NOLA.

  3. There are already 700 buses ready and waiting. Anybody who stays and doesn't have an extremely good reason(which the way things are I really can't think of one) is kind of insane. Jindal knows what he's doing.

  4. They are absolutely ******* not ready.  The emergency plans will probably not work.  There is absolutely no way that everyone is going to leave (and then those people who didn't leave will get mad at the government even though they WERE TOLD TO LEAVE).  I can sense that it is going to be a mess.  We can only hope that the hurricane is not a very strong one, and that it won't turn into another Katrina.
