Is New York City getting closer recently to becoming a state?

Or is that just hype? The city has tried multiple times to become it's own state from basically the inception of the USA, and from what I've read, it gets closer to the goal almost every time.

The most recent push was this February. Is New York City going to become it's own state? How likely is that?

If it did, what would it be called?! New York City-State?! Or just New York City still? Or would the rest of the upstate New York area just change their name?

I love NYC too!!! Its amazinggg!! ♥ If if became a state i think the city would change its name..not the rest of new york, if they changed the rest of new york i would be alittle mad ( i live in new york). I think they should change the name of NYC (even thought that would never happen) because everytime i say im from new york people always assume the city..and i dont know why..there is a whole state. haha but i think it would be kind of stupid to have it be a state., and i really dont think its ever going to happen.
