  1. new zealand . is a english speaking country,,,,,,, many different cultures live in n z now , and so it muli culture country now

  2. there are 3  languages mostly people speak english but there is maori and i can't remember the last one, my friend is out there well born there but she isn't maori. but mostly it is english

  3. nope not really. everyone speaks english here. maori is the other language but hardly spoken apart from in slang a bit or on maraes (maori community meeting houses)

  4. not bi-lingual. everybody speaks English ...

  5. you won't see any maoris unless you visit a social welfare office or pub

  6. New Zealand is much the same as America - everyone speaks English, even the indigenous people. There are immigrants who struggle with English, but they tend to be people to stay in their own communities. A few words of Maori have been picked up and as part of the local English vocab, but feel free to ask if you don't understand one.

Maori is the native language of the Maori people, but every Maori speaks English. The language is on the rise, and there is even a supermarket or two how have Maori signs, but you're not going to have to learn it.

So we're not really bi-lingual in the sense that most would understand it.

    The official languages are:

    English

    Maori

    New Zealand Sign Language.

    Wikipedia:

Until 1987, English was New Zealand's only official language, and remains predominant in most settings; Māori became an official language under the 1987 Māori Language Act and New Zealand Sign Language under the 2006 New Zealand Sign Language Act.[56] The two official languages are the most widely spoken; English by 98% of the population and Māori by 4.1%.[3] Samoan is the most widely spoken non-official language (2.3%),[v] and French, Hindi, Yue and Northern Chinese are also widely spoken.

  7. The other language is maori but hardly anyones speaks it much so dont worry about it. We just speak english.

    Kapai bro!
