  1. who would want to retire in Scotland? its friggin cold, Move to Arizona or Florida

  2. I went 2 both New Zealand and Australia during their winters. Australia is fairly cooler than NZ because of the large cities/ New Zealand does not really have many large cities outside of Auckland and Wellington so its fairly chiller. Its not that bad though I even went to the beach in the winter there Manley Beach, Australia. Just make sure at night to bring like sweaters. And if by any chance it gets cold there for you Fiji, a Tropical Island Nation is a only 1 boat ride away another fascinating country that boasts the nicest people in the world.

  3. I think you would find a much more diverse range of things to do in New Zealand . We have such a variety of scenery, activities , climate etc that there really is something for everyone.

You can have everything from subtropical to European climates depending on where you are. This in turn will make the difference to activities in an area. The North and South Islands are very different. You will find skiing and snow boarding, beaches, water sports, hiking in our lovely bush, kayaking, the list is way too long to cover here.

Have a look at http://www.holidays-in-newzealand.com for a look at some of the activities, an overview of the climate and what you might expect to find culturally.

    I hope this helps.

  4. Come to NZ...there's something for whatever you like. Its laid back, but certainly not boring! There's bungy jumping, great nightlife, awesome beaches, great skiing and snowboarding. Seriously, there's heaps to do.

If you want to visit or travel the whole country to check it out, why not go on the 'Kiwi Experience'. Ive had a few friends from overseas (including someone from Glasgow) go on it and love it!

    Check it out :)

  5. Having lived in New Zealand and lived in Cumbria England both have amazing scenery but I found many parts of Scotland bleak . New Zealand weather can be awful at times they have a high rainfall which in some ways is good as NewZealand is Lush and green , the water falls run hard . Get nice weather in new Zealand and you will be in paradise. I now live in Australia because I love the Australian climate.

  6. Are you at retirement if so a move to NZ may turn out to be stressful.  NZ has a range of climates from subtropical ( with mangroves to getting close to sub antarctic ( bottom of the South Island) The country has a range of climates you pick the area for the climate you want. The longest sunshine hours are in Nelson or Blenheim, both are at the top of the South Island. Nelson is a retirement location and has wonderful beaches.  NZ may look small on the map but is is almost as large as Italy in reality ( Its three times larger than Austria).

  7. I haven't been to NE SCotland, but i've been to London and i much prefer NZ to London, especially in terms of climate.

I think you would find there is a lot to do in NZ, so much so that you would never get bored.

I'm 24 and i go on at least 2 or 3 trips a year, whether it be tramping or relaxing holidays, also i've lived in the North and south islands and I STILL have heaps more I want to see and do around NZ.

I would say that NZ is one of the most interesting countries in the world
