Is Newbury, Berkshire a safe, nice place to live?

Is is posh or just an ordinary town? What about Reading? I heard Reading was okay, but I'm not sure?

My family lived there until I was 5, seemed like an ordinary sort of town but  seen as that was 25 years ago, I have no idea now. It was quiet I remember

it's an ok place,would not reccomend Reading though

Don't live in Reading. My friend used to live there - said it was quite a rough place.

If you want posh - move to Ascot ;P

I was looking at rentals there and i found one house for £40,000 a month!

it is an ordinary town, if i were you i would move somewhere slightly further west, especially the vale of pewsey. ive been there and it is delightfully rural, extremely safe with fast trains to london and the rest of the west country and good bus links to most of wiltshire and berkshire also property is not too expensive as it is away from all the south eastern poshies
