I went there 2 years ago and it was great, but I heard the political situation is sketchy again.

  1. Should be.  Ortega is really a capitalist.

My wife is from there.  Her sister is down there visiting family at the moment.

  2. I wouldnt go

  3. Its as safe as can be, and from what i can see from the above post, it actually is the safest in Central America. If you had a great time 2 years ago, don't let Daniel Ortega stop you, the beauty of the country is still there, is it not?

  4. Yes, it is the safest country in Central America. http://www.cbnicaragua.com/safety_in_nic... Check this google search, it searched for "safest country in central america", you see what country pops up: http://www.google.com/search?num=20&hl=e... You have to understand, the first time Ortega was President here, the u.s. interfered and spurred in civil war. Ortega is doing a great job right now, i am glad he is my president. Just because Ortega is getting help from other countries (Iran, Venezuela, Cuba) doesn't mean anything other than he is trying. We are a poor nation, he wants to help the poor, just like he did in his last presidency.

  5. I just came back from there after a 3 month visit and will be going back in a couple of months.

Just use common sense and you will be fine.

  6. Yes,Nicaragua is the second safest country after Canada.

I'm from Nicaragua and of course you will fine safety there, just because we have a a*****e for president doesn't mean the country has to pay for it.
