Is Nikki Sixx in Sixx am AND Motley Crue?

I was at a show in crue fest and I thought I saw Nikki Sixx in Motley Crue and Sixx am at the same show. I know hes in Motley Crue, but Sixx am. I mean the bands name is "Sixx" am. And im pretty sure i saw him in both.
