North Korea claimed Sunday that joint military exercises by South Korea and the United States were a rehearsal for an attack against it and warned it would repel any aggression.

"The army and people of (North Korea) will never remain an onlooker to the U.S. military and the South Korean bellicose forces staging frantic anti-(North Korea) war moves," the North's official Korean Central News Agency quoted Gen. Kim Jong Gak as saying at a meeting in its capital.

"Should the U.S. imperialists and their following forces misjudge (North Korea's) will and act rashly," North Korea's people and army "will mercilessly wipe out the aggressors to the last man," Kim said.

The harsh North Korean rhetoric is not new, but came three days after South Korea and the U.S. ended annual computer-simulated military drills.

  1. If you want to place a bet on who will start the next war, the Yanks are always the safest bet.

  2. American people have to realize North Korea is an obidient puppy of China but a mad dog agaist Uncle Sam. If Uncle Sam mistreats China, North Korea will be the first to bark loudly towards its South and Uncle Sam. If Uncle Sam can not handle North Korea, how is he going to deal with China, Russia, ....?

  3. Ridiculous. You conservatives never try to look at things from your enemy's POV. They have nothing to gain, and the whole world would line up against them.

This is more ridiculous that Iran starting a war...

  4. No. Sabre rattling is stock-in-trade for North Korea, but recent years they have actually gotten less confrontational in terms of their actions, they aren't kidnapping people off beaches in Japan anymore etc. And they want to make absolutely sure that the USA doesn't treat them the way the USA treated Serbia, Afghanistan, Iraq, and a host of other countries the USA has attacked/meddled in, and maintaining the ability and will to do serious damage to South Korea in the event of hostilities is a good way to do this. Their threats are an attempt to avoid war, not a sign or war. Now if the USA starts making all sorts of overt threats then get worried, but right now we're busy threatening Russia and Iran, so I think it's unlikely that war will break out in the Koreas.

  5. They can't even afford to feed their people much less fight a war. They are taking lessons from the Russians, shake your fist and make a lot of noise.

  6. Well as much as it hurts to say this - the USA.

  7. On past form it would probably be the Israelis.

  8. Sound slike they are talking about defending themselves against an attack, not attacking anyone. Oh wait!...... That is exactly what they said. Not sure where you got from that that they are going to attack someone.

If the US wasnt in S. Korea (most South Koreans want them  gone), the 2 Koreas would have reconciled long ago and reunified.

  9. I would say... Russia.
