THIS IS HAWKEYE'S RESPONSE a couple of weeks ago.

Arrogant or what??

Any team can rise up to the occasion on any given day but you have to believe that France are the only real NH chance at winning the RWC... and I cant see them getting passed the QF. Cant wait to see the headlines when its an all SH semi finals with Australia pelting England, NZ beating France, Argentina knocking out Italy/Scotland and South Africa's whitewash.

Ha ha ha

  1. I for one respect Hawkeye74 and even though we may have had our disagreements, I think he has a genuine feel for the sport of rugby and has been a tremendous contribution to Yahoo Answers/rugby, where there is a lot of nonsense floating around (like my questions and answers :-)  )  He was also graceful enough to stop interacting on this site after his teams loss, whereas he could have been spewing forth a lot of tripe. Lets just go on with the tournament.

  2. HAHAH I have no problem with this post at all!!!  If you truly believe that 2 games prove NH rugby is on the right track then  thats fine with me.

As I said, any team can rise up to the ocassion on the day, but look at where you TRULY stand before thinking all is right.  Ireland and Wales BOTH missed the playoffs, Scotland got through purely because someone had to from their pool and your club competitions are destroying your youth development and giving SH players nice retirement funds.

Yes NZ were eliminated, but I'll take the state of NZ rugby over ANY NH nation any day of the year.  If predicting the teams with better players and more importantly, form, were going to win the games, is "arrogant", then I am probably arrogant 365 days a year.  I'm weird like that.

  3. I'm from Scotland, and I hate to say it but Northern Hemisphere rugby is in a sorry state at the moment. Sure, France pulled off a wonderful upset to knock out the tournament favourites. And England did well to give the Aussies the auld heave-ho! But let's face it, the world game needs a strong AND CONSISTENT England, France, Wales, Ireland and Scotland. The original Five Nations teams are really struggling. England and France played out of their skins to beat Australian and New Zealand sides that both had collective off-days. And that's the difference! The top NH teams are having to play phenomenal stuff to beat off-colour SH teams! I expected a lot more from Ireland in this tournament, and was extremely disappointed with Wales. I think Scotland were too inexperienced, but they've got a young squad who will all be together for the next world cup and could be a surprise package to look for.

  4. Very knowledgeable person with a passion for the game, all that aside I can see where he was coming from with what he said just by looking at past performances from the teams.

He got it wrong, so what *shrug shoulders*, predictions go haywire and anyone whos anyone got it wrong from the first QF match.

Gotta give hawkeye74 his dues he knows his rugby!

  5. Come on, rise above their cobblers. They have certainly had their noses rubbed in it.

  6. You won (England V Aussies) because the Poms BORINGLY tied up the play from a free flowing exciting spectacle to a sluggish forward grind, again with Jonny at the back, heaven help you when he retires ! Go Boks !
