  2. well it has many features thats why..

included in their advertisments is the saying "uses 82% lesser memory than others"

    not sure if its true...

  3. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... please don't get norton. yes, it makes your computer A LOT slower and it doesn't even detect many viruses. you would be better getting something free like avg!

  4. I got rid of it.  It never caught anything; it was a memory hog and it's firewall bungled my Outlook.

    P.S. I now use M/S Live OneCare.

  5. From my experience with Norton, no way. It IS huge cumbersome, and the free ones are better, say AVG free

  6. I've cleaned up many computers with Norton's installed on them. Norton's is popular, but does not have the best detection / removal rates, and it is known as bloatware and will slow your system to a crawl. I can no longer recommend it.

  7. It is a very large program, they are right about that. Another issue with Norton is that it considers itself more than just an Antivirus Program. It comes with a protection for your recycling bin, and a few other things that aren't really necessary for such a program. The other issue is cost, there are plenty of free alternatives to Norton that work just as well, if not better.

I have gone through McAfee, Norton, and Kaspersky, and found that Avast was actually as good or better than all three of those, and Avast is a free alternative. There is also AVG, another free antivirus that works just as well as its competition, although I can't personally vouch for it since I haven't tried it

  8. it is a good antivirus!

  9. its worth it. i have it, but its time to renew now. make sure you get the latest edition.

  10. I have had no problems it has not allowed any viruses in over a year and I visit alot of dirty websites...VERY GOOD BEATS MCAFEE ANY DAY!!!

  11. It's definitely not good.

It used to be the best, but it's c**p now... use AVG.  It's free, light on your computer, and it scans fast.  It also finds more viruses than many programs, even Norton.

I'm a Computer Science major at U of M and most of the engineers there use AVG.
