I bought the Norton Antivirus the new kind and have it running, but I went to a bad site yesterday that had viruses and stuff like that, and alot of stuff was blocked. I'm wondering if there could have been anything else added to my computer that the Norton wouldn't of caught. I don't need anything on the new laptop, so is Norton enough to catch everything that could of happened bad?

  2. Most malwares are designed to attack popular

antivirus products (like Symantec, McAfee or Norton), but since free anti-virus

product is much less used, it's capable of fighting the viruses when

    industry leaders fail.

So I would go for the free version rather than the bloated and

    unreliable branded version.

I would suggest that you get Avast Home Edition version 4,

which is free for personal use.

Avast is a very effective and free anti-virus program because it can do

a boot time scan in safe mode and it will remove the entire virus on your PC.

Even those viruses that hide inside the system restore folder.

Windows utilize a restore utility that backs up selected files

automatically to the System volume information /System Restore folder.

This means that an infected file could be stored there as a backup file,

and most anti-virus programs will be unable to delete these files. You

must disable the System Restore Utility to remove the infected files

from the folder if you use another brand of anti-virus. However, you do

not need to do so if you use Avast to do a boot up scan in safe mode.

  3. Dear friend, I don´t think that Norton is a good choice for two reasons:

    a) If you install it in your computer, your computer gets slow

    b) It can´t protect you from the newest viruses.

So I do think that the best choise is Panda 2008 Internet Security

    Hope it´s helpful.

  4. Its a start. The catch is the AVs miss things like spy-ware. Spy-ware is a type of software that tracks what you do with out actually doing any thing malicious to your computer like a virus. Trojans are viruses like any other and Norton will often catch those. windows Defender is a good anti-spy-ware so long as your system is clean. Get it from Microsoft and not somewhere else. I also recommend a program called TheatFire. This is a Heuristic AV that will work with Norton. It works by identifying problem programs by how they act, not based on the virus definition like Norton does. It also will detect and repair root kits. These are the newest form of malware out there that gets deep into the system where AVs often have problems dislodging them. It is free just like Windows Defender. I have included links to these tools as well as Spybot. Spybot detects and removes spy-ware and is better for cleaning an infected system than Windows Defender. Good luck.

  5. norton suck big time 1st slow down your pc 2nd even norton full time protection is on virus still can attack you. subject you install superantispyware then norton setting off anti spyware if not your pc will be d**n lag lik 5 or more min to start up pc

  6. well not exactly because if you have only antivirus you are still vulnerable to spyware, malware and trojan horses and a good program i know for the spyware is windows defender it is made by microsoft for windows and is packaged with vista but if you have XP you can download it right here:
