Is Notre Dame a Good Football team?

I'm new to Football, and I'm looking to find a team to root for. I am interested in Notre Dame. Is it a good team? I'm a feisty Irish, and they are the fighting Irish, so I though it might fit well if they are good that is ;) What do you think?

Yes they are and you will enjoy rooting for them very much. I know I have and they haven't been too great lately, but they will be relevant again real soon. Don't jump on a team because of wins and losses.

That is total Bandwagonism. Pick Notre Dame today and stick with them through thick and thin  and you won't be disappointed.

Norte Dame historically is a really good football team even though last year they didn't have the best record going 3-9 but don't let that stop you for cheering for them I can't believe I'm saying this epically as an OU fan but go ahead root for Norte Dame they are a good football team

even though I'm not a ND fan I do respect their football program and the history and tradition it has

um....do you consider 3-9 to be good? And before Quinn and Symazrjin (or however you spell that guys name) gave them 2 decent (but still vastly overrated) seasons, they were like a .500 team or a little worse/better for a couple of decades (that's right, decades...)

Notre Dame was good & won most of their heisman's and championships back when football helmets were still made of leather (or had just started being made of plastic & metal), in the modern era though...not so much. Plus, why root for a team that is so confused about it's history; It's a catholic school, based in Indiana, with an Irish mascot, and a French name (I cringe everytime someone pronounces it "no-ter day-m")...

....I mean what the h**l is that all about anyway? Pick a symbol/school history and stick to it for God's sake!

Oh, and cmow5...come one man! You seriously think they're headed for a BCS bowl this year? Don't you think you're being just a bit delusional there....if they even go 5-7 or 6-6 it'll still be a vast improvement for them.

you are going to be horribly dissapointed if you choose Notre Dame. sure, they have a great history. but last year they were the joke of the nation. sure, anyone can have a bad year, but let's be honest.....even when they had Brady Quinn 2 years ago......most everyone knew that Notre Dame was grossly overrated.

I tell you what......watch the games. there are plenty of fun games coming up. eventually what should happen is you will fall in love with a team.

it has to come naturally. dont force it. something in your head will say "wow, i really like these guys", and you will find yourself the next day at the sports store buying their shirts and sweaters and what not.

Notre Dame is a great school and is known best for its football. It is a great team to cheer for. last year they weren't very food but I think they will do much better this year. Notre Dame normally has a awesome football team and soon will again.

I have been a ND fan all my life and will the be the rest of my life.

They have a good winning tradition.  However, they won't join a conference which allows them to schedule all-or-'nothing' games in order to get into the BCS bowls.  Regardless of how they do, they'll be on NBC for the next decade.

no they are bad last year they had 2 wins but the year before that they were really good but lost there bowl game to lsu.

Over the last 10 years they have had 8 winning seasons. They had 3 wins last year, Because all their starters where freshmen and soph with a few jr and sr. they had TOP 5 strength of schedule. They have more championships then any other team and more all Americans and heismen winners. They will play in a BCS bowl this year with a easy schedule and experience. They have MORE tradition then any other school and since they are the only school with a contract with a major channel(NBC) you will see EVERY Home Game and most away games. So, YES good choice and go Irish!
