  1. Depression, alcoholism, and other mental illnesses are genetic, so it'd make sense that OCD is as well.


  2. I found that there is a family component to OCD.  They say that it can be genetic along with some environmental influences ( however, the characteristics can be different in the next generation, meaning, a different area of OCD.  Like parents washing hands obsessively and child checking if the door is locked obsessively).

  3. I think so but I'm not sure.

  4. Yes, there is a heritable component, however that dose not mean that all cases are due to the inheritance of a mutation. We simply don't know enough about the disease yet.
