  1. If you like it or not no politician is going to vote to restrict themselves from going door to door or calling you on the phone.  They are not going to restrict themselves from access to voter information.  So don't give any thought of changing it.  I think we can expect a bombardment for Obama between now and election day because he has already accumulated over 200 million dollars for the election..

  2. They do the same thing here in Australia, except the candidate himself came knocking on my door instead of sending his footmen, which I gave him 10 out of 10 for having the balls to do.They obtain the information from the electoral roll, which they have access to.

  3. Where have you been? They have been doing this type of thing for years. Bush's supporters did the same thing both times he was running. As well as Al Gores peoples.

  4. It's not desperation.  It's standard political campaigning.  The Obama organization is able to do this because it has a very large number of volunteers and is planning to campaign aggressively in areas where the Democratic Party hasn't gone in the past few years.

  5. Same thing happened to me. So I had fun with it. I told them I wasn't planning on voting and they said all this bullshit. Then I said thanks for encouraging me to vote, I think I'll vote for McCain. Then they went even more crazy and just left.

  6. To answer both your questions .......

Here is the first - No it is not desperate to send volunteers door to door.

It seems many voters like the one on one ability to talk about issues and where the candidate stands on things that are important to these individuals.

Personally I think there should be guidelines on days of the week and times of the day these visits happen. Some people don't want bothered on weekends or at dinner time or after dark. We need to respect people when asking them to vote for a candidate.

Your second question about how they get information - is easy & may surprise many  but your voting records are open to political party members.

They went to the voter's registration office and ask for a list of voters in a certain area. On these lists is such information  as your name , address, voting affiliation , number of voters at that address and if you have changed voting party.

Now political parties can tell if you are a hard line party member, a moderate party member or someone that just votes when one issue or candidate strikes your fancy.

It is scary - when you think about it.

  7. LOL thats Obama for you. I dare someone from his camp to bother me. I'm no bush or McCain fan but I'm dont see how someone who hasn't served in the military can try to say they have experience or the know how to call themselves Commander in Chief not to mention the fact that he already is acting like he's won and is president while he hasn't and last I checked he has to win an election to be so. They had Kerry winning up until the polls closed and he ended up losing larger then expected he would have beat bush by & it's not like he's winning by a long amount granted he is winning by more then the error margin in most polls he's not landsliding. I would vote for my dead grandfather before I would vote obama I'm so sick of obama let alone his racist pastor or wife...Anyone who exploits his kids and therefore anyone who supports someone who exploints their children deserve alot more then water being poured on them if they bother someone. I'd rather vote for a dead person then a democrat. I dont think it's fair to tax me or my family to the stone age or punish people for hard work. Sure the rich & successful should pay but they should pay everything or be punished either let alone simply to reward lazy & illegal people.

  8. in the UK its very common practise for all candidates to send out people to go door to door campaigning. in the uk this info is found on the electoral register it is not illegal to do this.

i get very annoyed if around election time if i don't get somebody from each party knocking on my front door so i can hear what they have to say.

maybe this is just a new idea in the USA.

  9. Really, I hope they come to my house, I'll wait til they get to my porch, then turn on my sprinkler system. It's ways to the gate
