I noticed at the DNC he had some great ideas, but can he meet all of his promises? Some examples are ending foreign oil dependency in 10 years, and a better economy

  1. He is full of EMPTY promises. I think he has nice ideas that were written for him, but they are empty and not his own. Im watching him in an interview right now and next ill see McCains answers[they cant hear each others answers and are being asked the exact same questions]. I just cant believe what he says. I am good at seeing through people like its my 6th sense, and he is as sheer as glass.

  2. What I noticed was that all the promises that he was making on what he was going to do, well he voted against many of this on the few times that he did vote.  And Pelosi is refusing to allow a vote on the floor that would lower the price of oil.  You can look up his voting record, it is online.  In fact out of his 3 years in congress he has voted less than 50% of the time.

Here is a sample.....He voted NO on "protecting family business and farmers w/o increasing our nations debt.

voted NO to protect the family budget from runaway government spending.

voted NO to provide funds for a commission on budgetary accountability and review of federal agencies.

voted NO to pay down the federal debt and eliminate govt. waste by reducing spending 5% on programs rated ineffective by the office of management and budget program assessment rating tool.

voted NO to provide for a deficit neutral reserve fund for social security reform.

Voted no to establishment a deficeit neutral reserve fund for border security, immigration enforcement, and criminal alien removal programs.

These are just to name a few.  If you noticed in his speech, several of these things he said that he would do.....well he voted against them all, adn now he says that he is going to fix something he voted against.

    give me a break.

    vote McCain/Paulin 2008

  3. He is spouting his "learned in school speech class" Karl Marx babbeling and it is working here in America.

This economy has been "fixed" by the Democrats while they are on vacation, to make it possible for a presidential candidatte like him to spout promise for it to get better.

The Democrats in charge now love it that gas is $4 gallon, so we will blame it on Bush, and elect Karl Marx Jr.

  4. hes going to pay for them all by closing loopholes. I guess there goes the martini lunches

  5. I agree and was wondering the same thing during the DNC.  The only way I can figure it is that he has every intention of working towards this and he is not afraid of failure.  His chances of failure are high, but this is a mission that inspires people and if he could even get 50% of the way there in 10 years, I think that would have a tremendous affect on the country.

I always wonder where he will get the money though and my only thought is that the money spent on the military can be diverted towards this mission as the fighting in Iraq subsides.

As for the economy it seems like the worst is yet to come and I don't see any real solutions.  Bail outs on any level simply mask the problem and it seems that the healthiest thing we can do is work our way through the recession as best we can.

Obama is making a lot of great promises and he strikes me as a person of his word...   I hope he does not disappoint if he becomes president.

  6. I have noticed Senator Obama has a promise or a new tax for everything he talks about.

  7. all the candidates do that

    btw O sucks

  8. If Bush could march into a foreign country that posed no threat to America and occupy it using billions of dollars per month, Obama can march into our our country and improve it using billions of dollars per month.

  9. Both candidates alike are promising more than what realistically can be accomplished. So, yes Obama is promising too much.

  10. Yes, that is one of the ways Freudian Projection works.

  11. if it sounds too good to be true..then it probably is right?

and if its as easy as he makes it out to be...then why hasn't it ever happened before with any of the previous presidents of the united states?

  12. ON OIL:

If I remember rightly, when President Bush said to start more domestic drilling so we can end our dependency on foreign oil, Obama and Clinton both said it would take 10 years to see the results and that wouldn't be soon enough.  I think after actually looking at the problem,  he may realize that President Bush is right but, of course, could never say that.  There is no immediate answer.  Any solution will take time and should have been being worked on years ago.  I remember that when President Bush took office in 2000, one of the first things he wanted to do was drill in Alaska but the Democrats wouldn't hear of it.  We would have been 8 years into the project by now.  What could Obama promise that, without the co-operation of the Senate, could not have already been being done?

    ON ECONOMY:

As for promises about the economy?  President Bush wanted to make his tax cuts permanent and the possibility of a flat tax.  He has said from the start that more of the American workers money needs to be left in their pockets ---the Democrats (including Obama) say no. His answer to 'fixing the economy' is  tax our dividends on 401k's, increase taxes on social security, raise the capital gains tax, etc.  All together, his idea was to raise taxes by 27-29 %.   No matter what he says now, that was already made clear in the primaries.  Taking more money out of the tax payers pocket (and out of the economy) and into the hands of the spenders in Washington DC is no 'FIX'.  What we need is fewer and lower taxes because working American taxpayers are what drive our economy---not welfare/handout  programs.  We need quality jobs brought back into the U.S. --- not more companies (and jobs) chased out because they can't afford to stay in the U.S and remain in the competition.

What Obama says now and how he has voted in the past tell two really different stories.  The speeches made on the campaign trail and at the DNC are nothing more than Pep Rallies meant to get people worked up over a candidate.  Don't believe everything you hear.  Check out the voting records on any given issue.

  13. When he says he'll win the election, he's promising too much...

  14. Yes yes and yes because the president can't make changes w/out the senates consent.

  15. Good ideas if we were socialstic.

    High school student council promises.

If you ask me. which you did.

  16. it probable seems like a lot because our current president never did any thing except cause a war i think he will do what he says because i belive in him

  17. He probably cannot keep all his promises, but this is typical of every political candidate.  What they are really demonstrating to voters are their values, their ideas, their judgment.  Once htey get into office, of course they have to work with Congress and the American people to make these ideas real.  Most candidates end up meeting about half of their campaign promises.  George Bush met far less, even though he had a Republican Congress for the first six years.

As a voter, the idea is to listen to both candidates, see whose ideas more closely fit with yours and vote for that person.  That way, even if he does not enact all the things he promised, you can feel confident that you will like the direction he takes our country in and the type of Supreme Court justices he appoints.

The idea of ending our dependence on foreign oil would have to be one of those missions akin to going to the moon.  When JFK proposed it, many people thought it was crazy or too big an idea, but that didn't stop him, and within ten years, we had indeed accomplished it.  Presidents should be great leaders and set great goals.  We as Americans have shown we can accomplish great goals.  If Bush had set this goal when he was first elected, we would probably be off foreign oil by now.  Yes, we can!

  18. Oh my yes he is... I think its all about being the first black president Im not racist by no means whatsoever but I think that people who never even seen an election ballot will be there on voting day just to vote for him... He does have some terrific ideas but we as the United States have been fooled with empty promises ... am I right or what??
