How hard an instrument is to play is not a question that anyone can answer for you, even if they play both.  Instrument's that are easy for one person to play may be quite difficult for someone else.

Pick the instrument that you like the sound of, that you will enjoy playing the most.

Don't let someone you don't know, make that decision for you.

Bassoon is in Bass cleft and oboe is in treble - both are difficult - if you do not have a particularly strong ambashure (mouth muscles) oboe will be more difficult to start as the reed is much smaller - I've played both, but enjoyed the bassoon because of its mellow sound.
