  1. To save all your files in Microsoft format

    In OpenOffice

    • Click Tools

    • Click Options

    • Click Load/Save

    Select Microsoft Office

    • Check all the S boxes.

    • Click OK

  2. Yeah, as long as you save it as Rich Text Format (.rtf) or as a .doc file.

  3. If you save it in OpenOffice as a .rtf or .doc file, then yes, it will open in word with no problems.

  4. yeah as long as you are careful how you save it everything will be readable. there are some minor formatting differences between current ooo and current msword, but nothing that would make text inumtelligible. more a matter of aesthetics.  

  5. it is compatible...only not with DOC.X files.
