Is Opticanry School Worth It?

I want to become licensed & learn everything I can about optics. There's an Optician school downtown at a community college, but it is VERY expensive. I'm terrible at self-study.

In some years I plan on moving to England, where I heard they don't have the same standards as we do. Since I will be an outsider in a new country I want my creditentials to be top notch. But money wise is it really worth it?

I think it is, it takes time but patience can sweet a cup of tea.

Well...I would think it is worth it if that is what you want to do as a career.

Don't expect your licence to be good in the UK though. They may or may not even have equivalency tests that you can take in order to get your UK licence.

Even in the US, you can't go from state to state with the same licence.

In Canada, every province has it's own college of opticians, and sets it's own standards. So moving from one province to another requires that the exams of that province be taken over in order to get a licence for that province.

I imagine going to the UK would be the same...
