  1. I live in the suburbs of Portland, Oregon's largest city. If you were here you might think the answer is urban or suburban. There are several smaller cities along the coast and along the I-5 corridor. Eugene is a very popular place and much more mellow and laid back than mostly relaxed Portland. The Southeast quadrant of Oregon is mostly high desert and as such is just dotted with smaller towns. We've got it all here. Mountains, Ocean, desert and everything in between. It is the one-stop shopping for all climates.


  2. Having traveled through there a few years ago, it is definitely rural, with its main city of Portland being a major exception.  I definitely recommend traveling to the state, as its pretty, has great salmon, and has no state sales tax when I was there, although they did not permit people to pump their own gas when I was out there.
