Can this be possible when both Oxygen gas and liquid water are in the same container and under the same conditions (temperature = 31 degrees Celsius, 4.49 Kilo-pascals(kPa)? If it is, what product is formed? If not, why?

  1. It dissolves at the rate of about 8 mg/liter.  Otherwise fish would die.

  2. Oxygen gas has a very poor solubility in liquid water, The solubility of oxygen in water increases with the increase of pressure but decreases on increaing temperature. This little solubility of oxygen helps to sustain aquatic life.

  3. Oxygen gas is fairly soluble in water, which makes life in rivers, lakes and oceans possible.
