  1. Stansted is in Essex so it's not within the Transport Zones of London, I've never seen anyone use one on the Stansted Express - I know they were working on something so commuters can use them.  There is a note on the Transport for London website to say that they should be available at National Express offices so if you try their desk in Stansted Airport they might be able to tell you.

    Stansted Express is not part of Transport for London, it's part of the National Rail/train network

    Oysters are available from Underground Stations & designated newsagents, they charge you £3 initially but you get that back as they load it onto the card.  It's a pay as you go thing so you can put as much or as little on the card as you wish and the money will remain on it indefinitely.


  2. If you put a travelcard on you're oyster then you can use it ontrains within the zone's your travelcard is valid.  If you use a pay as you o you cannot.  I'm not sure if Stansted is in the zones or not.
