  1. I am unfamiliar with the specific system you are referring to.

    note, however, that poly ethers (PEG for example) are highly hydrophilic.

    you can easily make a 50 wt% peg solution (thick as molasses)


  2. Hydrophilic.  What are you trying to filter?

    EDIT:  I stand corrected (Thank you, Steve).  PES itself is hydrophobic.  The most  common use of PES is in a filter.  If it's used in an filter for aqueous solutions (liquids) it usually been processed to give the PES membrane hydrophilic properties.  In a PES air filter it's hydrophobic properties are left intact.

  3. No, it is not. If there were such a thing as polyether sulfonate, then it would probably be hydrophilic because of the -SO3H group on each repeating unit. Polyether sulfone is non-hydrophilic and is an engineering resin famous for its resistance to temperature, heat, water, and mechanical stress.
