  1. Many Viet eat pho for breakfast, lunch & dinner.  As a nation, they have lower rates of many diseases (like cancer) than most of the "Western world".  Does that sound "unhealthy" to you?

  2. They are no more bad for you than spaghetti or any other pasta. What will make a differance is what is served with the noodles.

  3. I love Pho and think it is quite healthy (though it often has high sodium).  Avoid the fatty meats and go with leaner cuts and you should be fine.

I believe when they say unhealthy, they meant the raw or undercooked meat in the pho's broth.  you know when you eat pho they put undercooked meat the broth, and let the meat cook in the broth gradually, and i believe in the end the meat is not fully cooked through.  So there might be bacterias.

  5. Pho is healthy. It is made with clear (or clarified) soup stock, vegetables, herbs, thinly sliced stewed meat slices, and steamed rice noodles.

    I have viet and korean noodles for lunch everyday, dont see any difference in my memory or brain functioning...

Pho is considered a healthy soup as long as the broth they use is skimmed and clear.  Most are, especially the authentic Vietnamese restaurants that make and serve them.  One of the reasons why its so healthy is because of the broth, but also because of the fresh vegetables that are eaten with it such as bean sprouts, mint, cilantro, and onions.  Also, the meat is usually very thinly sliced and lean as well. I've been eating it since I was 2 because my mom is Vietnamese and makes it all the time. yummy!

  9. Noodles are healthy, particularly when made with whole grains.  Pho is delicious, and the other ingredients in it are good for you, too.  Whoever told you it was "bad for you brain" needs their head examined!
