Is Pakistan ready for the mega event?
The World Cup is the biggest event and every cricket team wants to hold the trophy to become champion. It is going to start on 19 February 2011 for which the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board  announced 15 members squad for the World Cup a couple of weeks earlier but
took much time in announcing it and even more time in naming the team captain. Pakistan might be hot favourites in the World Cup but with its reputation of unpredictability, it looks hard to achieve the goal.
Pakistan’s world cup team includes experienced Shahid Afridi, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shafiq-c89281 and Umar Akmal. In bowling department, Shoaib Akhtar is the senior fellow and fit to take responsibility.
Afridi, Misbah and Razzaq would be the key players in the side, whereas young guys can also do something special for Pakistan.
Everyone hopes that this team will achieve the best results. Pakistan’s expected captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 expresses some dissatisfaction in preparations for the World Cup, as some other key players were suspended for involvement in spot-fixing scandal. He wants
Pakistanis’ support during the World Cup and said, “I am positive and will keep on motivating the men in green.”
Pakistan is going to finish the tour of  New Zealand on February 5. After one week’s rest, the team would fly for World Cup where Pakistan would start their World Cup campaign with a match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kenya-c752 on 23 February 2011 in Hambantota, Sri Lanka.
It seems Pakistan’s preparations for the World Cup are not on the right track. The PCB had already delayed announcement of players, especially the captain for the mega event. Selectors should have picked the preliminary squad to give them enough time to
get as a unit. Some eyebrows were raised also when the PCB left out  Mohammad Yousuf  who had claimed himself to be fit. It is better not to give false hopes to people because the team’s preparations are not looking up to the mark as compared to other strong
sides such as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746  and  England.
There is no purpose of wasting any more time. The players who are going to participate in the World Cup should know where they stand and what their expectations are. In last couple of World Cup tournaments, Pakistan did not play well and it is the right
chance for them to make amends. The quadrennial event in the Sub-continent will provide Pakistan a great opportunity to make up for all the disappointment this year.
The spot-fixing controversy and Zulqarnain Haider’s suspicious retirement from international cricket have shaken the team’s confidence seriously. Certainly the green team is facing several issues but Pakistan should not be too worried. Their recent performances
against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 and New Zealand have been satisfactory and the players just need to be supported.
Batting legend http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 tour and it should be another session with a batting consultant before start of the World Cup event.
In the World Cup, Pakistan is in Group-A joining Australia, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 in the same group. People have rightly hoped that the successful tour would help the squad bravely fight for the cup. Although the pitches in New
Zealand and the sub-continent are quite different, a six-match ODI series has built up a better combination.
The players should feel their responsibilities and the expectations set by the people of Pakistan. Now, the World Cup warm-up matches are the last remaining chance for the men in green to understand the exact purpose of these matches. They should set a winning
combination well before first official match of the mega event.
