In the last 12 years, Palin has gone from the PTA, to Mayor of a tiny town, to Governor of a tiny state.  Next stop the White House?  Not in any rational world.  With McCain's age, the question of whether, as VP, Palin is ready to be President is a serious question.  She makes Obama look like an elder statesman.  Also, it will soon be nationally known that Palin's mayoral ineptness over a pet project (a new athletic center) has left her former town in financial ruin -- typical Bush Republican.

Palin comes into the nomination *already* under investigation.  After 8 years of Republicans getting in legal trouble for everything from shoplifting to massive bribery, do we want to elect one that's under investigation?

This selection looks like Modale's 1984 selection of Geraldine Ferraro for VP.  Mondale was losing badly in the polls and picked an unqualified woman for VP (and I say this as someone who voted for Mondale), earning his only positive polling lead over Ronald Reagan.  Will Palin help?  It's a long shot, but that's all McCain has at this point.

I think she is a great choice who has a track record of getting rid of business as usual in politics. Romney wouldn't have gotten my vote, but McCain/ Palin has mine now.

Highly capable!  Palin is a Splendid choice and she will make a Wonderful VP (and future President)! It just goes to show that McCain is a true maverick, reformer & genius who picks likewise!

Palin:

* has the record of the most beloved Governor in the US by her state (Alaska)

* is a vocal, huge proponent of American energy independence & Alaskan drilling

* has actually been leading people for the past several while Obama & Biden NEVER have led anyone!

* shelved her state's pork-laden Bridge to Nowhere that McCain has ridiculed on the trail

* will join McCain in fighting hard against earmarks

* is a huge fighter of corruption in Alaska

* is about as far outside the Beltway as you can get

* ran on the agenda of stopping wasteful gov't spending

* is the mother of 5 kids!

* has had her son deploy to Iraq

* is for a strong US defense

* is a widely acknowledged rising star in the Republican party

* is an ice fisherman

* is a moose hunter

* is a small business owner and a lifetime NRA member

All in all, she's a truly fine leader, citizen and patriot - who truly represents Americana (Motherhood & Apple pie)!

don't listen to others opinions derive your own conclusion.  You'll only get biased opinions here.

My guess is:

He interviewed several right, Maybe Cindy said pick her!  Maybe Charlie said no, I'm a first term Governor as well.  Maybe Mitt said I don't need the job Chuck I've got bigger things to do!    I never heard of her till today, but I like her speech, I enjoyed reading her bio.  I'm anxious to hear more.

Again ...I listen to the candidate, I research the issues, and the people and then I decide, sometimes pubs, sometimes dems...

No, I think it goes deeper than that, considering how the dems treated Hillary, it goes to how women are treated in this country. Dems did not put a woman on the ticket even though they knew she has 18 million votes!
