  1. Its a wonderful beautiful city that I would go back to a hundred times over. Just be careful about pickpockets on the metro. A guy tried to pick pocket me on the escalator and I kicked him. Him ran but he didn't get any of my money. Seriously though I love France and I would live there in the country if I could.

  2. Paris is an excellant tourist destination. The rate of violent crime is very low in the city itself in places tourists would go. The main sort of crime you need to be alert for is from pickpockets and sneak thieves.

  3. Hi!! okay not everywhere is safe but i mean, im french and it happens to me aaaalll the time to "miss the last metro at night" and when i have no money to take the night bus or the cab, i just go back home by foot, and sometimes it's like more than an hour walking caus it's far from my place, but never got bothered even at 3AM! (i love walking so i do it a lot!)  Don't worry! and during the day there are many many people in the streets, it's safe!

  4. Paris is such a beautiful city, don't worry about crime or anything like it, just enjoy it. You only have a week there is so much to do. I've been twice there is nothing to watch out for except pickpockers on the metro other than that you'll be fine.

Stay in Paris I wouldn't go around the suburbs surrounding Paris at Night. Remember you only have a week it will go fast make sure you enjoy it! I LOVE PARIS!

  5. It's gorgeous.  There is VERY little violent crime in France.  The biggest 'risk' is being pickpocketed and even that is so different than in the US, where someone might drag you into an alley and beat the cr*p out of you for $20.  In France, the pickpockets are professionals.  They'll open your purse or backpack, take out the money (camera, etc.) and zip it back up all without you knowing!

So you just don't carry large amounts of cash with you.  Just have enough for the day so if you do get pickpocketed, you'll only lose a little bit.

Obviously, don't do anything stupid like get drunk and wander around alone at night though.  That's just asking for trouble (like it would be anywhere here in the US).

One other piece of advice: When you enter a store, post office, etc. say "Bonjour, monsieur or madame" to the person working there and then ***ASK if they speak English*** before you start blabbing on in a foreign language to them!  "S'il vous plait" (please) and "Merci" (thank you) will make a huge difference in how you are treated.  Imagine that! lol
