If you were young and living in Paris, would it be hard to live there, money-wise? Is it difficult to move there from the USA? Any stories to share?

Thank you:)

  1. Yes, Paris is an expensive town.

The best way for you to live there is as a student on a grant. Check that on the net.

  2. I moved there, alone, at 17 and LOVED it.

I was lucky because I had a modeling contract with a French agency so, even though it took 6 months to start getting good jobs, I was in an apartment that was paid for and had a small "allowance".

Take enough money with you to, at least, pay rent & buy food for awhile.

You don't say what you do but the french really do respect Americans who try to fit in. Just don't be an "ugly American"; try to learn the language and don't complain that everything is not as good as in America!

  3. Of course its WORTH living in Paris. it is one of the world's great cities.

    But that's not the issue.

If, as your question suggests, you are an American, then you can't just move there. You require a long term visa to stay more than 90 days and you require a permit to work there.

And even if you had both of those things you'd need a job unless you are independently wealthy and you're not likely to find one. Aside from the fact that unemployment generally and among young people in particular is vastly higher than in the United States, there are few jobs you can get unless you speak fluent French.
