I want to go to Paris but I don't know if they are a free country.

  1. As everyone else has said, Paris is not a country.  Perhaps you should review a geography text before your trip.  And, don't forget to learn a little bit of French.

  15. Paris is a city. The country is France and yes, it is free. Well, you'll have to pay for your plane ticket, and hotel, and restaurant, and stuff, but if you mean, can I go freely there for vacations, then yes, you may. Welcome.

Sometimes I weep for the future.  Adding my voice to the crowd, Paris is the capital of France.  I can't really say that it is a free country because I don't know how you define "free."  The above poster is right; because of "laicite" (being a secular state by law), no expressions of religious identity are allow in, for instance, schools.  When I taught there almost 5 years ago, this was becoming a big deal.  I surf, and surfers wear Saint Christopher medals (old tradition to keep us safe in the waves).  When I was teaching,Ihad to be sure to keep that tucked in.
