My son is only 12 months, so not yet really able to play with others. The home day care I picked seems really good for older kids, 2 -3 years old, lots of fun group activities. And nice toys fand things to play with for younger kids. They have 2 people and 9 kids, most ranging from 1.5 - 3. My son will be the second youngest. Youngest is 7 months. Do you think he will do well? Is it better to start him now than when he is 18 months or 2 years old?

  1. I guess it depends on the child.

  2. the sooner you star him, the earlier he can star learning. however, if you notice he is not doing well, you can always take him out.

  3. He will do well.  You'll be amazed at how quickly he starts to develop once he's around other kids.

  4. He'll be fine. Daycare will help him to socialize with others. This is very important for child development.

  5. Daycare or no daycare... such a sticky subject among moms! Assuming that you will eventually use daycare no matter what, and you are certain that your and your child's attachment is strong, I say don't wait. He will learn a lot from being with older kids. Be prepared that he will also pick up some habits that you may have to work harder to break.

If you are hesitating about daycare for some reason, I say wait until you are ready. Leaving your child in someone else's care is a risk and you need to be comfortable with taking it.

  6. I personally do home daycare myself. I have children ranging in age from 6 months to 4 years.  I think that he will do great and you might even be surprised by how much he learns at a year old. With older children around, they pick up a lot more then when they are with children that are all the same age. It sounds like the daycare that you have found, would be a good environment for him to be in too. As long as you feel comfortable with the people, then I would say that it all sounds great.

  7. Personally, I wouldn't send him to someone I didn't know very well until he can go potty by himself. That's just my opinion, though.

    I'm sure he'll do fine.
