Monty is good for tests and Patel good for ODIs. Both the bowlers are India's contribution to English cricket. Keep it up, guys.

Who says Patel is a taking Monty's place? Patel is a different bowler to Monty. Patel bowls meduim spin which dont turn that much whereas Monty bowls all sorts, plus the fact Patel can also bat.

You mean Patel replace Panesar in the test side.

He is more of a part-time bowler in the longer form of the game. You can see by his record in First Class cricket (he has only taken 31 wickets in 39 matches) Patel has potential to be a superb ODI all-rounder for England. He has great flight, and he can hit a ball a long way. It was a might impressive display by him yesterday.

It looks like he has cemented his place in the England ODI side, for a while now, of course if he can keep performing in the ODI's to a good standard then he will surely be knocking on the door for a place in the test side

Not at the moment. As other people have said he doesn't bowl that much in first class cricket, used more as a fill in bowler than anything else. I can see him being a long term replacement for collingwood though as he does a similar kind of job.
