im 18 years old i was suppose to graduate this year of june 2008 but i dropped outa school like almost 2 years ago. I been working alot and now that i see my classmates barely graduating it hurts me alot and im very disappointed in myself for not graduating i regret it alot. That could have been me but anyway i really am held back alot it would probably take me 3 years to graduate at a public school but i was wondering if i can just take the penn foster for high school diploma only and hope to get it within a year 1/2 or so then after i can go to a community college i wanna be a nurse so for sure i am going to college. I just wanted to know if penn foster is really good and is my money and education worth???

THANK YOU!

  1. Well, maybe Amy just missed the space bar in her enthusiasm; it happens, you know. If we're just going to pick holes, I'd say 'alot' is the least thing she needs to be bothered with.

Personally I have no idea if Penn Foster are any good (being outwith the US, being an unschooler & an auto-didact etc) but, if I was you, my biggest concern'd be finding out why it is they attract so many people to their programmes who are totally uninterested in getting a worthwhile education! Probably 95% of the 'cheaters' who rock up here expecting someone to just give them the answers are Penn Foster students; as a group, they certainly don't seem that motivated or inspired about the benefits of learning or education!

I'd also have worries about the derogatory effects their (less than motivated) students' public behaviour is having on the Penn Foster name, reputation, brand and diploma. Having repeatedly seen the way in which a good number of their students behave online, I (as a future employer) would *definitely* have concerns and doubts about the wisdom of taking on anyone who came to me with a PF diploma.

If I was in your position, before signing anything or handing over any money, I would definitely want them to provide me with the contact details of past/current students who are prepared to vouch for them, as well as provide references r.e. the integrity of their courses and the 'real world' worth of their name and their qualifications. I would also check with your preferred college(s) and just make sure in advance that a Penn Foster diploma is something they will recognise and accept.

  2. Maybe,

you'll need to work on your spelling before you can be a nurse.

    It's "a lot" not "alot".

  3. Sure why not. also try stratford career institute and make sure you enroll and get a degree in a career that is going to be needed by alot of people in the future
