Is Phil Gould the most embarrassing person at ch 9

midway through the second half he says melbourne are ready to crack and 2 min later they score and then he said its 69 min and manly have been the better team for 55min

ha ha what a clown it must be eating away at gould and ch 9 how good the storm are but at least they at ch 9 got to show the tigers AGAIN

The guy is a clown and an embarrassment. I can't believe someone at Channel 9 hasn't gotten rid of Gus Gould and his over-sized ego.

Do we really want his head and opinions running off at the mouth over each game we try to watch? To quote Gould himself...

"No, no, no, no, no!" (And aren't we all sick of that little saying too!)

Put simply. Yes, he is the most embarrassing person at ch 9.

I think he's a bit egotistical but at least he is prepared to speak his mind. Being a Queenslander I find him hard to take at times, but I thought during SOO this season he at least didn't think that NSW were the greatest ever. He said they picked the wrong side and was proved correct.

I'm happy to have somebody in the commentary that will criticize players & officials when necessary. The worst at Ch9, what about Eddie?

also there is karl stefanovic and tracy grimshaw at channel nine  i would rate them more annoying.... i am aware they have nothing to do with rugby league...but neither should phil gould.... I actually asked a similar question a few months ago... quite surprised by the amount of phil gould supporters.....idiots

His only rivals for the title are his off - sider Ray "mumbles" Warren and Warren Smith from Fox sport..I have often wondered if they ever listen to their own commentary, I am sure if they did they won't show their faces in public.

To be fair to them Channel nine pay them to act like this .Ch9 do not view the NRL as a sporting comp. to them It's a platform for sponser advertising. They treat the Game as sports entertainment, they don't give a Rat's about genuine fans of the Game. They, Ch 9, treat us as mindless idiots  and we will just accept what they dish up to us.

i think he is a goose  when commenting on a delayed telecast game he will say that what this team has to do now is score a try to get back into the game and they do   anybody can make these predictions when you already know whats going to happen

He may not always be right, but at least he has the courage of his convictions.  Personally, I like him.  He often will say what a lot of us are thinking.  I remember in State of Origin II, I was thinking the same about Qld, and then whammo, 2 quick tries.  Poor ol' Gus, leave him alone, he gives us all a laugh.  Hey, we could have John McCoy commentating.  How bad would that be?

Gould says what he feels His comments are made with rugby league at heart. He can be divisive but he does get people talking and thinking about rugby league. Like Sterlo, Blocker and Hadley before him, Gould prefers to talk about rugby league, not toe the official line as approved by Fox and Nine. His comments with his interview with Gallop were quite correct but were not received well (note that he was not on the Footy show panel when Gallop was on).

His game commentary can be a bit over the top but at least it is not antiseptic drivel like we get from Ray Warren.

I don't think so. Phil is from the old school and is not one to kiss **** or concern himself with being politically correct. We need blokes like him in the game otherwise we run the risk of the game becoming too clinical and sanitised.

i think his is the worst person on TV he doesn't know when to shut his mouth he needs to retire cause he really annoys me and he thinks he knows everything and his input is better and more knowledgeable than every1 Else's but that is just my opinion

Hmm must be some queenslanders here.Because Phil Gould is prob 1 of the smartest ppl in the game and definatly the smartest footy brain in the game,aswell as being the greatest origin coach of all time.Legend comes to mind when i think of gus :D

Yes,He repeats himself,he repeats himself. Annoying isn't it ? When he says that's unbelievable he is making absurd commentary because what we just saw was not unbelievable because it just happened as televised. His use of Oh My God is offensive to Christians. He  constantly disagrees with referees decisions and says that's not a penalty when clearly it is. If he was to referee a match no penalties would be given and all h**l would break loose. Friday Night Football has been ruined by his lack of respect to the rules of the game. The fact that they call him Gus (is this short for goose?) just goes to show how matey the whole commentary team gets. What us viewers only want is professional commentary with insightful views on the weaknesses /strengths of each team during the match.When my wife and I watch the games on Friday night and Phil opens his mouth we grab the remote and mute it as we don't want to insult our intelligence listening to another whinge from him. The sooner he is sent off for dissent to the game of Rugby League the better.Crispo
