Its yellow-green, since its yellow is it not considered evergreen

  2. You have just a little bit of a mix up going on here. Picea rubens is Red Spruce. Acer rubra is Red Maple. Picea rubens is indeed an evergreen which as you have already stated doesn't mean that it is green but that it always has leaves on it. Acer rubens or Red Maple on the other hand is desciduous and has a leaf drop every fall.

  4. First of all your names are not right...Picea rubens is also known as Red Spruce, and holds its needles all year (is evergreen).

    Acer rubra (Acer rubens does not exist) is Red Maple and yes all Maples lose their leaves (not evergreen).

    Incidentally the term Evergreen has nothing to do with the color of the foliage.

    If you have a spruce that is yellow, chances are it is malnourished or dying. If your plant is a Maple the new foliage and fall colors can include yellow hues but the plant is normally green leaved.
