Question:

Is Pittsburgh mid-west or east coast?

Pittsburgh seems very different from Philly and NYC and is more similar to Ohio. Pittsburgh was not as bustling as those east coast cities, and the layout was somewhat different-somewhat more midwest. There were more steakhouses more than any other food, very wide roads with several suv's, and lots of churches. Plus Pittsburgh is much more family-oriented as everything closes very early. So is Pittsburgh part of the mid-west or east coast?

  1. Technically its part of the East Coast ,but Culturally it's more Mid-west

  2. In many online surveys it is called east-central or simply central USA.  The problem is that PA is east coast.

  3. Seeing as how Pennsylvania doesn't have any coastline, the state itself can't be considered east coast.  The state itself is part of the northeast.

Geographically speaking, Pittsburgh is more Northeast than Midwest.  Much of the state of Pennsylvania is east of Florida (look at a map, it's true).  If you're talking about it from a cultural standpoint, then I'd have to say that it may very well be more Midwest.

One thing's for sure: it's definitely NOT East Coast.  NO COAST IN PENNSYLVANIA!!!
