Is Plasma Membrane essential to the component and function of cells?

yes, without the plasma membrane, essential and waste materials cannot get in and out of the cell respectively. Essential materials which are really needed by the cell( like water) cannot enter the cell and could cause malfunction or even death in the absence of a plasma membrane. Waste materials can't get out and become toxic to the cell and could therefore cause the death of the cell without the plasma membrane. Also, the plasma membrane regulates the entrance and exit of foreign materials and it also serves as a protective barrier.
