Ok, I added a cute poem on poetry.com, and a few months later, they sent me emails saying that I was a great poet, and that I can get awards. They sent me letters for me to buy CD's, Placks, and Books for the honorable poets.

They also have an assembly of some sort in California, which they want me to attend.

They keep sending me this stuff...

Is poetry.com a scam? Does everyone get these letters/emails saying that you are honorable? Am I really one of the few poets who get accepted??

  1. Yes. It's a scam.

  2. Yes its a scam, my sister entered a couple poems in on there and they sent her the exact same things and said all her poems were wonderful. And invited her to read her poem at this poetry reading thing, long story short it didnt work out. Im extremely sorry. =[

  3. well i entered a poem and they e-mailed me and mailed me saying they wanted to publish my poem and stuff like that

  4. um, well, my poetry teacher said that they send people automated messages. Sorry, but I'm sure you can enter contests because there are a bunch of those! Good luck!

  5. There's a name for that kind of publisher and contest.  But to be honest, IT IS A SCAM.  Anything that asks you for money in order to get published is a waste of gas.

  6. Yes it's a scam, think of it this way if you won a prize why would you have to pay for it? Most prizes are rewards and you don't pay for rewards. They don't steal your poem or anything like that so your safe there, but as far as it being a legit publishing company  poetry.com is NOT the way to go. When I was younger and naive I used to submit poems there and just like they're doing to you they did to me. They don't care about your poems they just want your money.
