  1. I Googled "ANTISEMITISM IN POLAND" and got 910,000 quotations!!! Obviously, the problem is still as acute as ever. Last year the Catholic Church even threatened to shut down its Polish affiliate radio station for regularly broadcasting sermons of anti-Jewish hatred.

Here is a recent book on this subject --> http://www.amazon.com/Fear-Anti-Semitism...

As in any nation that accepts bigotry and hatred, the problem is usually not confined to a single target. In contemporary Poland it's also ok to hate g**s and Russians, for example.

  2. Do you remember how Poland had the highest jewish population before WW2, that was due to religious freedom, so they were never "high anti-semitism".

  3. I wasn't going to deny Polish anti-semitism again, really, but Grand Master B has written loads of bullshit I can't stand. I don't know where he gets his information from - I suppose he's just an American ;P

"Poles were no help to the Jews during WWII". Yeah, right mate...Probably that's the reason Poles are the most numerous groups among "Righteous among the Nations". Don't tell me you haven't heard about that 'award".

"[Poles] were killers of Jews along with the Germans" - you're a smart guy! I bet you've never read any book about it. Even Jews were forced to kill each other or to choose the ones to be killed...

"I love when a minority claims abuse and then abuses another minority" Since when Poles are minority in Poland?!

And I love when people who haven't got the slightest idea about the problem, take part in discussion.

To be clear, of course not all Poles were brilliant but the world seems to forget that Jews weren't our biggest problem during WWII.

  4. I don't understand how someone can be so ignorant, yes this is about grand mastro - you're not very grand!!!  Because you are puting your opinions on something you know nothing about!!  Your family hasn't paid the price for hilter's anti-semitism - but all of Poland has paid the price - that's exactly why Poland was attacked by the germans - because poland opened their doors to the jews while the rest of the world just watched!!!  Because Polish people are very compasionate they tried to feed the Jewish people some of them their friends and some total strangers.

I come from a town that has/had a great deal of jewish people.  I have never had a problem with the jews, and yes I know lots.  My dad almost got killled in the war because he was trying to give bread to a jewish boy.  Why do you suppose the Germans imposed a law stating that anyone caught feeding Jewish prisoners would be killed?  I guess cause the polish people did want the jews around huh - that's why they were willing to sacrife their lives and the lives of their families.

Oh by the way just so you don't think that I was taught this in Poland - All of my education was in the USA!!!  I guess I was paying attention when they taught that subject.

Oh and on the subject of throwing the remainder survivers out of Poland - well please note at that time Poland it self was a priosoner of Russia - that's why it was called communism.

    Read about it.

  5. NO.

    It NEVER was.

  6. IN the 1500's when all of europe hated the jews the polish king invited them and opened poland's boarders to jews and other ethnic minorities.

    Long history of tolerence

  7. Historically, Poland hasn't been any more or any less anti-semitic than any other country in Europe. However, in the last 50 years the anti-semitism there has fizzled to almost nothing. That's partly because there are hardly any Jews left in Poland (10,000 or so) so racists have no real target. Instead, the hatred has transformed itself into russophobia.

  8. I beg to differ. While Poland is trying to be less anti semitic as compared to WWII, they still have a long way to go. Yes, Jews are welcome to come to Poland, but the meer fact remains that the Poles were no help to the Jews during WWII. It was bad enough that the Poles were treated as second class citizens during German Occupation, but the Poles naturally exploited the situation and were killers of Jews along with the Germans as well helping the Germans in the killing. The same was the case with the Hungarians, Croats, Ukrainians, French to name a few.

In so many words, I love when a minority claims abuse and then abuses another minority.

  9. No it is not.

Of course you will find people with antisemitic views in Poland as you can find in every country in the world, I guess. But it is just a small fraction of 38 mln people living in Poland. Especially if you have a look at older generations they may still have some prejudices about Jews - people who lived in communist Poland just after the war still remember that a lot of members of very cruel communist secret police operating in Poland in 40s and 50s were of Jewish origin. Also there is a small but very loud organization of catholic extremists, who are not dangerous but say a lot of antisemitic things in their radio station ("Radio Maryja").

But among young people there are no prejudices and definitely no antisemitism, maybe except for some small extremist groups, which are really marginal. Public expression of antisemitic views or denying the Holocoust is a crime in Poland.

One more thing, regarding our painful history: Poland is the place where the biggest tragedy of the mankind happened (Holocaust), but please remember that it was n**i Germans, not Poles, who built and operated death camps on the Polish soil. And to those who forget how Poles helped Jews during the war risking their own lives (at that time if a Jew was found at Polish house the whole family was either killed immediately or sent to Auschwitz) - have a look at this link - this is just one example of tens of thousands:

  10. Poland has never been anti-semetic. Poland gave Jews a home in Poland because no one else wanted them. Anti-semetism in Poland is propoganda from WWs

  11. Poland has NEVER been a "very high anti-semitism country",  whatever that is supposed to mean. During past centuries, Jews from all over Europe fled from local persecution to Poland, to find shelter. During World War Two, Germans established ghettos and death camps for Jews on the territory of Poland for logistic reasons: simply the Jews were there. But Polish people helped them hide and escape from the oppression; the number of Polish Righteous among the Nations is the highest of all.

After WWII there were isolated outbreaks of violence against the Jews, mostly provoked by new communist authorities. And in 1968, when the same authorities forced many Jews to leave Poland, it was a manifestation of fighting between two communist party factions rather than hostility of ordinary people. Ordinary people were sad to see them leave, for these were their colleagues, friends, ofter lovers.

Whoever cries antisemitism, should read some history first.

And in my humble opinion, the way you formulate your question is highly offensive by itself. As if you asked your best friend, "Hey, John, do you still beat your wife?"
