Is Pompano Beach, FL a dangerous city to visit?

I'm going on vacation there soon and have questions: What attractions are the best to see? Is driving down to Key Largo and Miami worth the trip? Is there a major shark danger in the ocean? Anything else I should know?

  1. Dangerous ?  Not really.

Key Largo is worth the trip, Miami itself is just a city where people live and work, entertainment and good spots to visit are outside of Miami.

Key West is worth the trip, it's a long day if you go down and back in one day.

Sharks ?  There are sharks everywhere, though generally not a nuisance.

Attractions ?  The beaches, butterfly world when you tire of the beaches, swamp rides, the beaches, light houses, Seaquarium, and I'll even toss in Miami Beach

  2. Pompano Beach is not dangerous, a small beachside town north of Fort Lauderdale. Miami is definitely worth the 40-45 minute drive...definitely go to South Beach and take in lunch or dinner on Lincoln Road...a pedestrian only street right off of South Beach with lots of sidewalk cafes, good food and great people watching. Sharks are not a major danger anywhere around Ft Lauderdale or Miami. Key Largo is a bit of a drive, and unless you're planning to spend some time there, not worth the extra three hours to get to. In terms of attractions, shop on Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale...go to Vizcaya in Miami....and if you're adventurous, Little Havana in Miami (It's not dangerous and probably the closest you'll ever get to real Cuban culture...the food is amazing and very inexpensive, the people are very friendly and you'll be happy you tried it out)

    Have a great time!
