Question:

Is Population Control the Answer?

For Earth and the Human Race? Who gets to decide who lives, who dies and who gets sterilized? This is something we should be asking ourselves, because there are many rich and powerful elites who want to control our population. Is this the best thing for humanity? Is this what's best for the Environment?

  1. First you have the right to kill unborn children for a woman's health. Now they have a right to kill your unborn child for earth's health. When will people realize that Nazism doesn't work?

  2. Whether or not it is, the earth can't support an infinitely increasing population, so either way, people will die (Or they won't be born at all.)

  3. Nature is a fascinating and efficient thing.  The reason that human population is burgeoning is due to advances in science and intervention methods that offset the delicate balance.  Everything in nature is a cycle e.g. over-populated forests eventually burn and the cycle begins again; the Bubonic plague infects a population and decimates towns; a percentage of people are born sterile etc.

With the unnatural aid of medicines and surgeries, we have otherwise sterile women and men having babies - and not only single births but twins...triplets...quints!  We now have women over reasonable childbearing years forcing pregnancies.  In effect, having their own grandchildren.  Medicine helps the aged live longer.  If nature were allowed to take it's own course, overpopulation would be not be a threat.  So.  We have to ask ourselves, "Just because we can do something, should we?"

Finally, to your question about 'elites who want to control our population.'  Natural selection would keep the balance for the affluent as well.   Nature is not discriminating.

  4. while it's pretty unpopular, we will get there.

you can't continue to feed an increasing population forever.

what'll happen is that it'll take some serious damage to our environment, in addition to, or outside of, global warming, to convince enough people that some form of population control is needed.

that's when the fun will start.

  5. as cold and inhumane as it sounds, yes population control is a great idea, but as you state, who gets to breed, and who does not? who controls it, China has it right, one child per house. As a country we have a very flawed system that pays low income women to sit home and breed, 5 6 or even 7 or more children that grow up to be impoverished, undereducated, and yet another drain on our resources and finances, it has to stop somewhere, It may sound cold hearted, but truth is not always pretty.

  6. Hope this isn't America your talking about? Freedom is supposed to trump the Socialist desires of the elite few, yet these elites are the ones pulling the strings of those who run our country. How sad!

If you pay any attention to nature, you will find natural, and common spikes in population of most all insects/animals etc. Nature will balance itself. This may mean that we have some mutation of an ebola, bird flu,(or worse virus) which kills millions of us, but something will eventually. This truly is how nature works, and yes humans are still in fact an animal, which can live, or die just as easily as any other animal.

Nothing in nature including humans can out smart, or control nature.

Were just along for the ride.

To put this simply... Those who want to control our every move in the interest of being green are the same outcasts who no-one would let play in the sandbox in elementry school.

  7. h**l NO it's not!!!!!!!, they are power hungry satanic people who need to be overturned!!!!!

  8. No.  I don't believe it's right.  The government should definitely not have this power over the people.

Think of it this way... the earth will not go on forever.  Perhaps we should let nature or God decide the fate of the human race.  Not our government.

If individuals feel that they should reproduce less or not at all, that's their decision.  My brother has always said that he doesn't want any children because "there are too many people in the world".   I see his point.  But I think that if the government imposes it's will on the population in this way.. it is EVIL.

  9. The earth is taking care of this for us. i.e. hurricanes, tsunamis, and earthquakes will surely help out this insane number of humans. The elite don't even have control over that.

  10. The control in population control is a deceptive term that makes people think that their rights or options will be infringed upon. The truth is it happens naturally as a society progresses to industrial/post industrial and children move from a financial resource to a financial burden. We're already doing it - average family size is way down compared to 100-200 years ago.  Government can intervene subtly by giving tax breaks or implementing materity/paternity leave labor policies.  In some more developed countries they no longer have enough young working people to support their labor needs and retired populations and the government is giving incentives to have more children.

Yes overpopulation is an evironmental problem - the more people there are the more resources get used.  But in a consumer society it's also possible that a lower population will just adopt a "more for me" attitude and use just as many resources.

  11. Please don't post paranoid conspiracy c**p.

But anyway, we have the technology we need to support far more people on this planet than we have right now with a high standard of living without destroying the environment, we just have to push the luddites aside and actually use the technology we have.

Nuclear power can provide enough electricity for billions more than Earth currently has while producing very little waste that we can actually deal with (and with breeders we've got enough to last millions of years at energy consumption figures higher than what we use now).

For feeding the population we can use genetically modified foods that can be grown with much higher productivity than all natural foods with less land usage (and land use is the major environmental effect of farming) along with being better than natural foods.
