Question:

Is Prague suitable for younger people?

It's my girlfriend's 17th birthday in November, I'm 16, and I want to take her somewhere special after our Christmas dance. We've both travelled alone in the past so that's not the problem, I'm just trying to decide where to go. I know she'd love to go to Iceland, and I wouldn't mind, but it seems like it'd be hard to get around there... My budget is about £750-800 so Paris is sort of out of the question.

So what about Prague? It looks really beautiful, but when I asked my dad he said it's more somewhere folks go for a stag night, like Amsterdam and all that, and that there isn't much to do if you're not old enough to drink...

  1. Well I was in Prague last year for a week, I was 21 at the time, but I have to say it was a beautiful, amazing place to visit! I stayed at a great hostel called the Plus Prague, it had a pool and sauna, it was really new - although a tiny bit out of the city.  (I use Hostel Booker's when looking for budget accommodation, they are a great site, see reference).  There is plenty to do there even if you are under age.  The castle is spectacular and the view from it is breath taking.  There are many beautiful stores to wander and the people are friendly, you have to try goulash.  There is a town outside of prague, about an hour train ride, named Kutna Hora where there is a 'bone church'.  It is an old church filled with human skeletons left from the plague.  It is truly something amazing to see.  Plus the town of Kutna Hora is a nice place for a day trip. (See reference for details).
