  1. Preschool attendance is not required in the state of Texas or any state.  In addition, kindergarten is not required in the state of Texas, but Texas schools are required to offer a kindergarten program on site.  Mandatory kindergarten attendance vary from state to state.

I don't know anything about Texas, but I am very glad that I had my son in pre-k, because he was expected to be able to write his name and know the ABC's before the first day of kindergarten.  Now, at the end of the year, they are expected to be reading and counting to 100.  It is not like the kindergarten of our childhood with paint, and playdough and paste.

  5. No infact Kindergarten is not required.  Children do not have to be in school until they are six years of age by September 1.
