I'm about to go on a 1000 kilometre drive and I was wondering if it would be better value to fill the car with Premium Unleaded petrol?

  1. unless  your car is knocking and lower performance ...also theres and octane booster you can add to a full tank believe around 99 cent to 2 bucks , then you would come out cheaper.

  2. depends on your car, but usually it doesn't make that big of a difference...

  3. The higher the octane, the longer it will take to burn off.  Also, the performance in your auto may be a little better.

  4. yes

  5. Most engines don't require the premium, so it's usually a waste of money.

  6. If the manual for your car says to use only premium fuel, use premium fuel.

if the manual does not specify, try premium fuel and see if your car runs better, if not go back to regular.  If it runs better then it is worth paying more.

  7. I would guess , no. But I would like to know 4 sure.

  8. BETTER GAS MILEAGE AND CLEANER ENGINE.

  9. Only use the grade of fuel your car was designed to use, A higher octane fuel does not improve performance or mileage, your just wasting your money.

  10. If it doesn't knock, you can use low octane. If it knocks go up one grade.

  11. okay,  here's the deal on gasoline...

The octane rating is a measure of burn time.  The higher the ocatne rating, the longer the fuel takes to burn.  Your engine computer will compensate to some extent for the different burn time, but you're not going to get any extra performance out of the higher octane.

Premium fuels tend to have the best additive package a gasoline company offers.  Purchasing premium fuel for the purpose of cleaning your engine's internal components has merit, but if you're using a quality gasoline all the time, you don't need that.  If you're running discount fuels, you should consider running about every 10th tank as a good, quality premium.

For your trip, use the grade of gasoline your vehicle recommends, be that regular or premium.  Definitely don't use midgrade, it's the biggest ripoff out there.

  12. Depends on engine and computer on your car.  It is not a question if it is worth it but if it is supposed to have it.

  13. Unless your engine is designed to require higher octane-content fuel for anti-knocking purposes, there is no sense in putting in a higher grade fuel.  The octane content has nothing to do with gas mileage.  If your owner's manual doesn't specify a higher grade, you'll just be throwing money away.
