Is Prey (the PC game) scary? Should I buy it for my girl?

I'm thinking of buying Prey for my girl, she's played stuff like Halo, and probably the scariest games she's ever played without freaking out would be Swat 4 and BloodRayne.

She doesn't like horror movies, though, and gets quite upset when she's scared. So I read a few reviews on Prey and some suggested it was quite scary. She's not scared of gore or disturbing sequences, but more of the 'scary-monster-pops-up-in-your-face' variety.

Was wondering whether the reviewers were right or they're just being ******* about the gore and stuff like kids getting impaled. If the scary level is on par with Swat 4 or BloodRayne I suppose it'll be alright to buy it for her.

PREY is a futuristic alien game involving a american indian whom refuses to accept his spirituality, but soon the spirits and ancestors start to help him.

The game includes alot of blood and alien liquids squirting in many directions and also includes human beings being ripped apart with alien machinery.

Obviously the scaryness of anything cannot be measured and is unique to each person, even though games are virtual they can desensitize young people to violence and the consequences of it.

Depending on how old she is, its not terrifying, its just what youd normally see in an alien movie. However, it contains blood, swearing and human slaughtering and obviously alien beings, they look scary, but again it depends on her age.

The game is rated for over 18s, and this is mostly to do with the blood and gore, and killings featured in the game.

Otherwise, its not really a horror. There's no fear like scares, or horror type jumps, just your typical sci-fi setting, with lots of digusting looking aliens.

If she doesn't mind that kind of setting or violence, then it will be ok.
