I am planning a trip with my husband to go to Orlando, and wanted to book a trip using price line because my flight would be really cheap? is it worth it or should i just say forget about it.

  1. I love priceline!  I use it all the time.  The trick is if you are more flexible, use priceline "name your own price".  For instance on flights - if you can leave anytime during the day and return anytime during the day - you can really save money.  But if you have to leave after work but before 8pm (for example) than priceline isn't the way to go.  I almost use priceline 'name your own price' exclusively for hotels.  If you want to stay only at a Disney or only at a Hilton - than 'name your own price' isn't for you.  However, I stay at 2 or 2 1/2 star hotels for less than I'd pay for a no star hotel.  I love priceline!!!!

  2. It's worth using for rental cars.... I got one (economy car) for $11 a day from Hertz in Saint Paul.  Cheapest I've ever had.  They accepted my bid.

Also, I got a hotel in Minneapolis for $45 a day, I believe, by bidding that much.  It was at the Crown Plaza, a three-star hotel with an indoor pool.  Lovely.

I would not use Priceline for flights, as one has to accept weird hours and layovers, etc. to get a good price.

Another drawback is the non-refundable ticket.  One just takes a big deep breath and bids, because your credit card is charged as soon as some hotel or car company accepts the price, and you can't change your mind.

    Good luck!
